Blessed Assurance

We belong to Jesus and He belongs to us. What a marvelous revelation! God is our Father and we can go to Him for anything; we can ask for anything that lines up with His will for our lives. Remember, God's will is His Word, so we don't have to be in the dark about what His will is for us; just get into the Word and see what He has said.

Assurance means it is a guarantee, a promise; something we can declare with confidence. The old hymn of the church says, "Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine; oh, what a foretaste of glory divine." Wow! Just think about all the wonderful things the Bible says that Jesus is. He is our Savior, our Fortress, our Strength, our Good Shepherd, our Provider, our Healer, our Peace, He is our Elder Brother, we are joint-heirs with Him, He is our Bread, He is our Living Water; and we could go on and on. This is the confidence we have in Who Jesus is in our lives. And this is just a little bit of what heaven is like, as we experience heaven here on earth.
Have you experienced the Lord Jesus Christ in the truth of Who He is? He is all this and much more, and we can have the blessed assurance that Who He is, is what He does; and He is ours. Jesus said we can ask the Father for anything in His Name and the Father will give it to us. "If ye abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you." John 15:7. Jesus said, "All things that the Father hath are Mine: therefore said I, that He shall take of Mine and shall shew it unto you." John 15:15. His Name is, "Faithful and True". That means we have the guarantee that He keeps His promises, He will not fail us. Can we say that about ourselves, in our relationship with Him?
We serve an Awesome God!! There is no one like Him. "There is none holy as the LORD; for there is none beside Thee: neither is there any rock like our God." I Samuel 2:2. Oh, how He loves you and me; He cares, oh yes, He cares!!! "For I know the thoughts I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11. "Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father's will. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows." Matthew 10:29-31. God has a plan for each one of us. "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light." 1 Peter 2:9. No one loves us like He does. "Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine. O what a foretaste of glory divine. Heir of salvation, purchase of God, Born of His Spirit, washed in His Blood."

I was in a church service one time when there was a "prophet" praying for the people. After a time, he called for an offering and had his mind totally on the offering instead of the people coming for prayer. One man went for prayer while the offering was being taken and the "prophet" told the man to come back to another service and then he would pray for him.

When we focus on money and things – possessions, we put them before God and forget about Him. Jesus said it is hard for a rich man to enter into heaven. Why is this so? Because he feels he has all he needs and doesn't need God, the One who has the whole world in His hands. A rich man depends on his riches and possessions to gain whatever happiness he needs in life: not realizing that the mammon is temporal and will pass away.

In this day and time men need encouragement like never before. They need to know that they are loved and very much need in this world. They also need Godly wisdom and understanding of the ways of the kingdom of God. Jesus is our supreme example in how to live as holy men of God. He prayed often to the Father, putting His earthly life completely in God's hands.
