Rise Up And Walk

By Barbara J. Scott
In order for the power of God to be made manifested in the lives of those we touch, we must first believe in our hearts that God will do what He says He will do. Jesus said if we believe and not doubt in our heart, that we could ask what we want and it will be given unto us. We have to rise up and walk the walk of faith before we can help someone else. And the confidence is not in ourselves, but in the living God.
Rise Up And Walk

When Peter and John were going into the temple to pray, there was a lame man who had been lame all his life.  He reached out to Peter and John for them to give him money.  Peter's response to the man was, "Look on us."  The man did as he was instructed, expecting to receive money from Peter and John.  But he received more than he expected.  Peter told him that he had no money to give him, but what he had, he would give him that. Peter was filled with the power of the Holy Ghost, and the works that Jesus did he was able to do also.  This is what Jesus meant when He said that we would do greater works than He did on the earth.  When Peter said, "In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk", that man did not hesitate to take Peter's hand and get up from the ground. (Acts 3:1-16).  And Peter with holy boldness did not doubt that Jesus would heal the lame man.  What faith and confidence on the part of both Peter and the lame man!  How many of us would have had that kind of faith and trust in God?

In order for the power of God to be made manifested in the lives of those we touch, we must first believe in our hearts that God will do what He says He will do.  Jesus said if we believe and not doubt in our heart, that we could ask what we want and it will be given unto us.  We have to rise up and walk the walk of faith before we can help someone else.  And the confidence is not in ourselves, but in the living God.  Jesus said that whatever we ask in His Name, the Father will give it unto us.  As believers in Christ Jesus, filled with the Holy Spirit, we have that same power within us that Peter and John had.  Would you be willing to say to someone, "Rise up and walk", knowing that they had been born lame?  We think about what we can do and doubt that it will happen for us.  Jesus is Jehovah Rapha, He is the Healer, but He is willing to use us if we make ourselves totally available to Him. We must rise up and walk in the faith of the Son of God who loved us and gave Himself for us.  In Him we live and move and have our being.  Absolutely, we can do nothing without Him.  But thanks be to God who gives us the victory to be able to do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

God will not give His glory to another, and when the people ran to Peter and John because they saw the lame man walking, Peter said to them, "Why are you looking at us as though we by our own power or holiness made this man walk?" Acts 3:12.  He let them know that it was the man's faith in Jesus that healed him.  Activate your faith; rise up and walk in the Name of Jesus, so that that lame person in your life may be able to grab hold to your hand and by faith, get up off the ground and walk, too.  "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is My Father glorified, that you bear much fruit; so shall you be My disciples." John 15:7-8.
